Audrey Augustave

(she, her)

LPC, NCC, LCADC

Psychotherapist

I am a couples counselor and sex therapist committed to helping adults restore intimacy, love and an active sex life or to build a mutually supportive partnership between co-parents.   I specialize in:

  • Couples therapy

  • High conflict relationships

  • Sexless marriages

  • Sex therapy

  • Divorce

  • Life Transitions

  • Co-parenting therapy

My couples come to me to reignite the joy that has long since been lost in their relationships. With me, they look to heal years of long-standing resentments, an inability to communicate effectively, betrayals, power struggles, sexless marriages, emotional estrangement, cross-cultural difficulties, challenges with inlaws or blended families, or post-separation concerns about co-parenting.  I'll hold space for you while you achieve a mutual understanding that creates trust and forgiveness.  With me, you can move from conflict to compromise and growth.

I work especially well with clients who identify as Christian and are looking to process their concerns through a faith-based lens.

My Approach

In my work with committed couples, we’ll start off with the story of your relationship and where you want to take it. I’ll guide you through a detailed review of your individual roles and responsibilities in the relationship: (house management, parenting, finances) and process the impact these roles have on your resentments.  I’ll also invite you to an online relationship checkup that gauges the health of your connection across a number of important areas.  This early process will help us develop specific relationship goals for couples therapy and I’ll then help you work through each area as you master the tools and habits to sustain growth and connection.

In therapy, I support couples to make amends with their sense of frustration surrounding how much of themselves they have given up to make the relationship work.  I compassionately challenge couples to develop insight about themselves and to rekindle the spirit of expecting the best of one another while giving the best of themselves.  As a result of our work together, couples can start to make intentional choices about their roles within a newfound culture of compromise and practice habits that restore their connection day by day. Once trust is reestablished and a validating space for self disclosure recreated, then couples have the foundation needed to build an optimal sex life. Here, I assist couples in exploring their history of shame and trauma in sex and taking steps to achieve a mutually satisfying intimate life. I want you to know that healing is possible.  Many of my clients start to see changes by the sixth or seventh session.

In my work with co-parents, we will explore and make amends with the unresolved conflict that impedes your ability to make cohesive decisions in parenting. Learning and practicing compassionate listening skills is a significant part of the process. Coparents will detail their sense of dissatisfaction surrounding their parenting duties and schedules and together will come up with a lifestyle that provides stability for your children and equity between parents.
