ADD and ADHD Therapy for Adults

At Cultivate Therapy, we specialize in therapy for adults with ADD or ADHD who want better strategies to manage productivity and relationships.  Our holistic approach is based on the methods developed by Drs. Hallowell and Ratley, the well-known authors of Driven to Distraction and Delivered from Distraction.

We'll start with an understanding of how your brain functions and will introduce you to non-medication interventions for ADHD like computerized cognitive training, mindfulness meditation, and neurofeedback.  We'll also guide you through the research on exercise, movement, diet, sleep, disruptive technologies, and environmental influences on ADHD.  You'll come away with a curated toolbox that work for you to boost productivity and invest in stronger relationships.

If you have experienced a traumatic event or are struggling with PTSD, then EMDR therapy can provide significant relief and facilitate your journey towards healing and recovery. Our trained EMDR therapists utilize this evidence-based technique to help you process traumatic memories and the negative emotions, beliefs, and sensations associated with them.

You won’t start with EMDR in the first session.  Rather, your therapist will guide you through the assessment phase at your own pace–you are in charge of your story and how much you want to share and when.  Your therapist will tell you more about EMDR and assess if this is the right approach for you.  You’ll decide together when you’re ready to start.

During an EMDR session, you will be guided to focus on specific traumatic memories while simultaneously engaging in bilateral stimulation techniques, such as eye movements, taps, or sounds. This process allows your brain to reprocess the distressing memories and integrate them in a healthier and adaptive way.

The benefits of EMDR therapy for trauma and PTSD are numerous. You may experience a reduction in intrusive thoughts, nightmares, and flashbacks related to the traumatic event. EMDR can help alleviate anxiety, depression, and other emotional symptoms that often accompany trauma. Additionally, it can promote a sense of empowerment, increased self-esteem, and a greater ability to cope with triggers and stressors.
